Welcome to Little Lambs at Lambley
A Warm Welcome to Our Village Nursery
Little Lambs at Lambley welcomes you to our charming Nursery school nestled in the picturesque heart of Lambley village, conveniently located just seven miles from Nottingham City Centre. Our nursery occupies the historic Old School Room on Church Street (NG4 4QB) which has been an education facility for local children since 1874 and provides a unique blend of character and modern childcare & education facilities. As a proud member of the esteemed Wolds Childcare Group, we benefit from the organisation’s wealth of experience in delivering exceptional childcare and early education across multiple sites throughout Nottinghamshire.
Our Family-Centred Approach
At Little Lambs, we take immense pride in cultivating a small, friendly nursery environment with a genuine family atmosphere that sets us apart. Our devoted team brings together an impressive collective experience of over 75 years in professional childcare, offering your child the benefits of diverse ages, backgrounds, and specialised expertise. This rich tapestry of experience enables us to create a truly nurturing setting where each child feels secure, valued, and thoroughly supported throughout their early development journey. We understand that finding the right childcare is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your little one, which is why we’ve created a space where children can truly thrive.
Tailored Care for Every Age
Our thoughtfully designed space caters for children from approximately 2 months up to nearly 6 years of age, ensuring appropriate developmental opportunities at each stage. With approximately 31 places available, we maintain an intimate setting where each child receives personalised attention and care that responds to their individual needs. Our facilities are fully wheelchair accessible, and we take pride in accommodating children with diverse requirements, including those with physical and sensory disabilities. Every child deserves the opportunity to flourish in a supportive environment, and we’re committed to making this possible for all those who attend our provision.
Flexible Hours to Suit Your Schedule
We understand the demands of modern family life and are pleased to offer flexible opening hours to accommodate those needs. Our doors open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am until 6:00 pm, with an option for an early start from 7.30 am, allowing you to select the arrangement that best suits your routine. Our transparent fee structure ensures you can plan effectively for your childcare needs without unexpected costs or complications.
Government Funding & Financial Support
We’re pleased to participate in various government funding schemes to make quality child care and early education more accessible for all families. Eligible working families or those receiving government support can access funded places at our nursery. Additionally, we offer the universal 15-hour entitlement and extended 30-hour entitlement, helping to reduce the financial burden of childcare. We also accept tax-free childcare payments, providing further financial flexibility for working parents. Our administration team is always happy to discuss the various funding options available to your family and assist with the application process. Please see the section Enhanced Provision for further details. Please refer to our summary table for details of attendance patterns and fee arrangements.
A Gentle Introduction to Nursery Life
We understand that embarking on nursery life represents a significant transition for both children and parents, which is why we’ve developed a comprehensive settling-in programme tailored to suit your child’s needs. Upon registration, you will be offered an optional 2 settling-in sessions and a one-to-one consultation with the Manager as part of our transition package. This can be followed by carefully planned independent visits, with durations gradually extending as your child grows in confidence, until you feel happy that they are well and truly settled. Some children settle quickly, while others benefit from a more gradual approach – we respect each child’s unique pace and work closely with parents to ensure a smooth transition.

Keeping You Connected
Communication forms the cornerstone of our partnership with parents. All families opting for the Enhanced Provision service benefit from our implementation of the innovative FAMLY app, which delivers regular updates through photos, videos and meaningful observations of your child’s development and activities as well as general communication, invoicing and payments. We believe that strong parent-nursery communication creates the best foundation for each child’s development journey.
Inclusive and Supportive Environment
Little Lambs proudly offers comprehensive support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with hearing impairments, autism spectrum conditions, speech and language difficulties, sensory challenges, and various physical impairments. Our dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) works alongside our experienced team to implement our robust SEN policy, ensuring every child receives appropriate, individualised care. We maintain active relationships with external specialist agencies and invest in ongoing staff training to create a genuinely inclusive environment where all children can thrive regardless of their individual challenges.
Nutritious, Home-Prepared Meals
Proper nutrition plays a vital role in children’s development, which is why all our meals are freshly prepared on-site by our dedicated catering team. We meticulously cater for all dietary requirements and allergies, with careful attention to safety and nutritional balance. Our menu rotates regularly, introducing children to diverse flavours and textures while maintaining familiar favourites. Mealtimes at Little Lambs are social, educational experiences where children develop healthy relationships with food in a relaxed, supportive setting.
